Domestic violence charges against All-American Carey dropped

Arizona Wildcats All-American running back Ka'Deem Carey will not face charges relating to an alleged domestic violence incident as the Tucson City Prosecutor dropped all charges on Friday.

Carey was facing misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct charges stemming from an alleged incident in December involving his ex-girlfriend, who was pregnant with the couple's child at the time.

Carey was accused of knocking down the 23-year-old woman while looking for a lighter in her room to smoke an illegal substance, according to the police report. He also was accused of slamming her fingers in a door.

While dropping the charges, the city released a statement saying, "A key witness for the prosecution is unavailable, and even if the witness were available, there is no substantial likelihood that a judge would convict Mr. Carey."

As a sophomore last season, Carey, was a consensus first-team All-American selection when he led the nation in rushing yards with 1,929 and set school records for yards and rushing 23 touchdowns.
