Miami Dolphins defensive back Jonathon Amaya was arrested and charged with battery early Monday morning, according to NFL.com. Amaya was reportedly arrested after he tried to choke a cab driver in Miami Beach, police said. He was arrested about 4:30 a.m. outside Club Bamboo in Miami Beach after an altercation with a cab driver, according to the police report. Amaya offered the driver $100 to drive him from Miami Beach to Weston, Fla., the report said. The driver told police Amaya became "aggressive" during the trip so the driver returned to the spot he picked him up and ordered him out of the car. Amaya allegedly leaned forward and began choking the driver. Off-duty police officers pulled the driver over when they saw him driving erratically. They also heard him yelling "this man is trying to kill me." Police then took Amaya into custody. The defensive back was an undrafted free rookie out of Nevada in 2010.
