Miami Dolphins coach Tony Sparano attempted to downplay kicker Dan Carpenter's groin injury on Friday after practice, but the Dolphins worked out kickers as potential replacements.
According to ESPN.com's Adam Schefter, the Dolphins have signed veteran kicker Shayne Graham for Sunday's game against Buffalo.
"On the injury report you’re going to see that Carp is on the injury report with a little groin thing. Late yesterday afternoon, early eve it got a little bit sore so we’re just trying to cover our bases here. That’s all. No five alarm fire yet," Sparano said after Friday's practice, according to the Miami Herald.
In addition to Graham, the Dolphins worked out Jeff Reed, Rhys Lloyd, Brandon Coutu and Fabrizio Scaccia.
To make room on the roster, the Dolphins released cornerback Jonathan Wade.
