INDIANAPOLIS -- Ryan Tannehill passed for 321 yards to help the Miami Dolphins defeat the Indianapolis Colts 24-20 on Sunday afternoon.

Mike Wallace had nine catches for 115 yards and Charles Clay had five catches for a career-high 109 yards for the Dolphins (2-0).

Colts quarterback Andrew Luck passed for 321 yards, but he didn't have the fourth-quarter magic to produce what would have been his ninth game-winning drive in 18 starts.

T.Y. Hilton had six catches for 124 yards, Coby Fleener caught four passes for 69 yards and a score and Ahmad Bradshaw ran for 65 yards and a touchdown for the Colts (1-1).

In the third quarter, with the score tied at 17, Indy's Jerell Freeman sacked Tannehill and forced him to fumble, and Joe Lefeged recovered deep in Miami territory. Adam Vinatieri's 38-yard field goal gave the Colts a 20-17 lead.

Clay's 1-yard touchdown run put the Dolphins up 24-20 with 4:40 remaining in the third quarter.

Miami tried to increase its lead and went for it on fourth-and-1 from the Indianapolis 39 early in the fourth quarter. Tannehill was awarded a first down on a second effort, but the Colts challenged the spot, and the call was overturned.

The Colts were on the move again, but Luck threw short in a pass intended for Reggie Wayne, and Miami's Brent Grimes intercepted the ball in the end zone for a touchback.

The Colts had another chance to take the lead in the final minutes. They reached the Miami 23, but Luck threw three straight incomplete passes, and Philip Wheeler, a former Colt, sacked him on fourth down with 1:27 remaining. The Dolphins ran out the clock to claim the win.

Wallace, who was unhappy with his role in last week's game after catching just one pass, caught three on the game's opening drive, including an 18-yard touchdown reception.

The Colts came back with a 30-yard field goal by Vinatieri, but the Dolphins responded quickly. Clay caught a ball over the middle after Antoine Bethea missed an interception attempt, and Clay rumbled 67 yards. On the next play, Lamar Miller's 10-yard touchdown run gave the Dolphins a 14-3 lead.

Luck found Fleener for a 3-yard touchdown pass early in the second quarter to cut Miami's lead to 14-10.

Hilton made perhaps the play of the game late in the first half. He jumped back over his defender to catch an underthrown ball for a 47-yard gain. Bradshaw eventually scored his first touchdown as a Colt, a 1-yard run, to give Indianapolis a 17-14 lead.

Miami's Caleb Sturgis closed the half with a 54-yard field goal to tie the score at 17.
