Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Matt Kemp will have surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. Scheduled for Friday, the recovery time ranges from four weeks to four months, Kemp told reporters, depending on what doctors find. "They'll cut it open and see what's going on inside of there," Kemp said. "Hopefully, they just clean it up. If they need to do more, they'll do more, but I won't know anything until I wake up." Kemp crashed into the outfield wall against in Colorado Aug. 28. He was batting .337 before the collision, but hit .218 after getting hurt. Kemp said the injury likely takes him out of playing for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic next spring. "I think we can throw that out the window," Kemp said. A season after batting .324 and finishing second to Ryan Braun in the NL MVP race, Kemp missed a total of 51 games with hamstring injuries. He batted .303 with 23 home runs and 69 RBIs.
