Zack Greinke went seven innings allowing only two runs and Adrian Gonzalez hit two home runs as Los Angeles shut down a final rally to top St. Louis, 6-4. Three different Dodgers went deep in the win.
The Dodgers began the scoring in the bottom of the second when a single by Juan Uribe off starter Joe Kelly drove in Gonzalez. Later in the inning, Greinke also hit a single, driving in Yasiel Puig to make the score 2-0. Tied 2-2 in the bottom of the third, the Dodgers took a lead they would not relinquish when Gonzalez went deep off Kelly for a solo home run.
Greinke picked up his first win in these playoffs after he allowed six hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Kelly (0-1) was charged with the loss after allowing four runs on seven hits over five innings with three strikeouts and no walks. Gonzalez had a strong game for the Dodgers, going 3 for 4 with two home runs, three runs, and two RBIs. A.J. Ellis also had a big game, going 1 for 3 with a home run, a run, and an RBI. Matt Holliday went 3 for 4 with two doubles, a run, and an RBI in the loss.
