Dodgers activate Capuano

The Los Angeles Dodgers plan to activate pitcher Chris Capuano from the disabled list before Monday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks so he can be the starting pitcher in the game.

Capuano went on the disabled list with a strained calf after his April 16 start against the Padres when he gave up five runs in two innings

In a related move, the Dodgers will place second baseman Mark Ellis on the disabled list retroactive to April 27 with a strained right quadriceps.

Also infielder Jerry Hairston Jr. limped off the field during a workout on Monday while testing his injured groin, and he is likely to go on the disabled list too.
