Dirk Nowitzki put up 40 points to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a close victory over the New Orleans Pelicans, 110-107. Dallas (22-16) has now won back-to-back games after defeating New Orleans Pelicans on Friday.
Nowitzki finished 10-20 from the field (5-9 on 3-pointers) and 15-16 from the free throw line, in a quality offensive outing. Monta Ellis chipped in 26 points and 5 rebounds for Dallas as well. Anthony Davis had another big game for New Orleans in the loss, putting up 28 points on 10-17 shooting from the field and 8-10 from the free throw line. He also recorded 14 rebounds. Al-Farouq Aminu added 15 points and 11 rebounds and Jason Smith finished with 10 points and 7 rebounds.
New Orleans (15-21) has now lost five straight.
Coming up, the Mavericks play the Orlando Magic, who are 10-27 on the season. The Pelicans meet the San Antonio Spurs, currently sitting at 28-8 this year. The Mavericks are 1-0 versus Orlando this season. The Pelicans are 0-1 versus San Antonio this season.
