Josh Trank will direct one of the upcoming Star Wars movies.

Also a writer and actor, Trank has few directorial credits to his name, but what he has done so far is impressive. He is best known for the 2012 hit feature film Chronicle and he is currently working on The Fantastic Four.

In a statement, Trank described the impact Star Wars has had on him and how he feels about directing the new picture. "The magic of the Star Wars universe defined my entire childhood," he said. "The opportunity to expand on that experience for future generations is the most incredible dream of all time."

The project is one of the spinoffs announced after Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012. A well-publicized trilogy is also in the making, the first installment of which, Star Wars: Episode VII, is being directed by J.J. Abrams.

We do not know yet which spinoff Trank will direct, but the first of them, directed by Gareth Edwards, is scheduled for release Dec. 16, 2016.

The buzz includes rumors that characters such as Jedi master Yoda and bounty hunter Boba Fett may get their own films. Talk of a movie centering on Luke Skywalker and a Han Solo origin story is running rampant among fans of the franchise.
