Kobe Bryant to retire:

Diamondbacks' Putz headed to DL

The SportsXchange

Arizona Diamondbacks reliever J.J. Putz is headed to the 15-day disabled list with a dislocated right pinky finger that he suffered during Friday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies, the Arizona Republic reported.

Putz suffered the injury when he was hit his pitching hand while trying to field a groundball off the ball of Kevin Frandsen in the seventh inning.

Putz retired the side in order in his only inning of work, but he sustained the dislocation and a small laceration.

Putz, 36, has a 2.43 earned run average this season, but he was on the disabled list for 46 games earlier this year.
