Diamondbacks 8, Dodgers 6

LOS ANGELES --The Arizona Diamondbacks scored four runs in the top of the 12th inning and withstood a furious rally by the Los Angeles to win their fourth straight series against the Dodgers with an 8-6 victory on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium.

Arizona managed 14 hits against Los Angeles in regulation play, including 11 off starter Hyun-Jin Ryu, but still that was not enough.

Perhaps because they were all singles.

It took a little power to put the Diamondbacks over the top.

D'backs left fielder Cody Ross opened the 12th inning with a double off Ronald Belisario, catcher Miguel Montero singled him to third and third baseman Martin Prado stroked another double, knocking Ross home. Arizona added some padding with a Cliff Pennington RBI single that scored Montero and a Gerardo Parra single that brought home Didi Gregorius and Pennington.

Los Angeles (28-36) responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning but Tim Federowicz stranded Skip Schumaker and Adrian Gonzalez to end the game. Josh Collmenter picked up the win, and Heath Bell survived the 12th to give Arizona its seventh of nine games against the Dodgers this season.

Seven Diamondbacks (36-29) had multiple hits, including Ross and Montero, who each had four. Parra, Goldschmidt and Gregorius had two hits for Arizona, which finished with 20 on the evening.

The Dodgers found a way to exploit Arizona starter Patrick Corbin for one of the few times this season. Corbin, who entered the game looking to become the first Diamondback in team history to start 10-0, allowed eight hits and four runs in five innings.

Early on, the Dodgers responded to Arizona's three-run fourth inning with a four-run fifth inning explosion of their own.

And they got production from the unlikeliest of places.

After Ramon Hernandez scored Juan Uribe with an RBI groundout, Ryu came up two batters later and drilled a triple to right field to drive in Alex Castellanos. The Dodgers added two more RBI singles by Nick Punto and Adrian Gonzalez.

Arizona built the lead in similar fashion.

Prado opened the scoring with an RBI single to score Ross, Gregorius singled home Montero and Pennington grounded into a double play that scored Prado.
