DFS Soccer Week 13

Welcome to Week 13! It feels like I haven’t written a DFS piece in years due to the delayed DraftKing spicing two weeks ago and the international break this past week, but we’re back at it again and ready to grind some wins out. I talked about the new DraftKings scoring a little last time out, but please make sure to check that out again before you set lineups this week. The scoring has changed the game drastically, but mainly for defenders and midfielders. It’s kind of weird how such a huge change has us just where we were at the beginning of the season with goalkeepers and strikers – chasing goals and clean sheets.

Before we get to our charts this week, let’s once again look at a few things we learned last time out:

• Manchester United have the best defense in the Premier League. They’ve been fantastic, but they’ve also played extremely defensively. I don’t see their attack carrying a ton of value anytime soon, but invest in their defenders in all formats.

• Chelsea are really, really bad.

• Bournemouth also look extremely poor at the moment. They’ve been struck with a number of injuries that have completely ravaged their team and they are a good team to stream against.

Goalkeepers

DraftKings

This is a good slate for goalkeepers. The sports book odds love Stekelenburg this week, and with good reason. The Southampton goalkeeper gets to face Stoke City at home for what looks like the best matchup for the gameweek. Stoke City are not very good on the road, and they’ve been a low scoring team this season, giving Stekelenburg a good floor and ceiling.

An interesting option here is Asmir Begovic. He is once again liked by the sports books, but the reasons are not clear. Chelsea have been absolutely horrific and there is not much to like there outside of high saves potential. I think he’s fine to use in GPPs, where he should be low owned and the potential to keep a clean sheet against an extremely bad team in Norwich (which with high save potential could be a good combo), but it’s hard to trust him in cash games, even at home. Other options are Petr Cech and Tim Howard, with Cech being more of a cash game option while Howard is better in GPPs. Joe Hart can be considered for GPPs as well, as he faces a Liverpool team that tends to shoot a lot from distance at times, which could lead to a number of Hart saves.

MondoGoal

MondoGoal have once again refused to adjust pricing according to matchup, and that makes the selection process a lot easier. Stekelenburg and Petr Cech are too good of options at their price to be ignored, while Hart is also an option. Butland can be completely ignored here. Fabianski also makes for a decent play, while Begovic is a fine GPP option at his price.
