VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) Ray McCallum scored 22 points as Detroit shot 60 percent and defeated Youngstown State 93-76 in the Horizon League tournament quarterfinals Friday night.
Chase Simon added 14 points for the third-seeded Titans (20-13), who will face second-seeded Cleveland State in the semifinals Saturday night.
Damian Eargle tied his career high with 25 points for the sixth-seeded Penguins (16-15). DuShawn Brooks added 19 and Kendrick Perry 18, and Eargle had seven rebounds.
The Titans blazed out of the gate, hitting 11 of their first 14 shots for a 29-10 lead. They were ahead 50-34 at intermission.
The Penguins, who shot 55 percent, climbed within 10 three times in the second half but could not close the gap.
