Detroit Lions Fantasy Football Week 9: Fan Preview

Yahoo Contributor Network

Note: The opinions expressed here are my takes on the Detroit Lions' key players during the 2012 fantasy football season. As always, use your best judgment and conduct your own research on who to start or bench each week. You know your individual team and/or league situation better than anyone else. All statistics and point totals are based on Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football standard scoring system.

Matthew Stafford, QB

Stafford finished the week earning 32.28 fantasy points in a win over the Seattle Seahawks. This week he faces a Jacksonville Jaguars' defense that has given up a total of 119.22 fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Stafford had a monster game last week and has a good matchup against a weak secondary this week. Look for at least 20.00 fantasy points on the week.

Mikel LeShoure, RB

LeShoure finished the week earning 5.50 fantasy points against Seattle. This week he faces a Seattle defense that has allowed a total of 163.20 fantasy points to running backs this season. LeShoure had just one carry in the second half last week but appears to be healthy heading into this week's matchup. He should still continue to share touches with backup Joique Bell. Look for a modest week of around 8.00 fantasy points against the Jaguars.

Calvin Johnson, WR

Johnson finished the week earning just 4.60 fantasy points against the Seahawks. This week he faces a Jaguars' defense that has given up a total of 158.80 fantasy points to wide receivers this season. Johnson did not practice on Thursday due to a lingering knee issue but there is nothing to suggest he will not be suited up on Sunday. Despite a rough couple of weeks he is still hard to sit. Look for a generous estimate of around 12.00 fantasy points this week.

Titus Young, WR

Young had a monster game earning 22.00 fantasy points against Seattle. This week he shares the moderate matchup against Jacksonville with his fellow receivers. With Nate Burleson out for the year due to a broken leg, Young's targets will certainly increase. If he continues to catch the football like he has been, he will certainly become a mid-season fantasy surprise. Look for at least 8.00 fantasy points this week.

Brandon Pettigrew, TE

Pettigrew finished the week earning 7.40 fantasy points against the Seahawks. This week he faces a Jaguars' defense that has given up a total of just 31.50 fantasy points this season to tight ends. With Pettigrew's knee a concern and the fact Jacksonville is tough on tight ends, it may be wise to look at other options this week. Otherwise look for around 5.00 fantasy points this week.
