Note: The opinions expressed here are my takes on the Detroit Lions' key players during the 2012 fantasy football season. As always, use your best judgment and conduct your own research on who to start or bench each week. You know your individual team and/or league situation better than anyone else. All statistics and point totals are based on Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football standard scoring system.
Matthew Stafford, QB
Stafford finished the week earning 13.20 fantasy points against the San Francisco 49ers. This week he faces a Tennessee Titans' defense that allowed 23.26 fantasy points to San Diego Chargers' quarterback Philip Rivers last week. Look for Stafford to rebound against a less dominating Titans' defense and score around 19.00 fantasy points in the process.
Kevin Smith, RB
Smith finished the week earning 7.00 fantasy points against San Francisco. This week he faces a Titans' defense that allowed just 5.30 fantasy points to San Diego running backs last week. Smith is expected to show improvement this week over last but it should not be much. Look for a 9.00 fantasy point performance this week.
Calvin Johnson, WR
Johnson finished the week earning 9.40 fantasy points against the 49ers. This week he faces a Tennessee defense that allowed 10.90 fantasy points to San Diego wide receiver Malcom Floyd last week. While Johnson has yet to put up the caliber of numbers we all have come to expect this season, look for a strong rebound this week with him scoring at least 15.00 fantasy points.
Nate Burleson, WR
Burleson had a lackluster week scoring just 1.60 fantasy points against San Francisco. This week looks to be no different against a difficult Titans' defense. Look for around 5.00 fantasy points at best this week as Johnson is expected to get the majority of the targets.
Brandon Pettigrew, TE
Pettigrew finished the week earning 7.80 fantasy points against the 49ers. This week he has a very favorable matchup against the Titans who gave up 24.40 fantasy points to tight ends in Week 1 alone. Look for Pettigrew to match his average of 7.80 fantasy points this week.
Detroit finished the week earning 5.00 fantasy points against the 49ers. This week they face a Titans' team that has allowed an average of 11.00 fantasy points to team defense this season. While their secondary is depleted, look for Detroit to fare somewhat better this week against Tennessee scoring in the neighborhood of 8.00 fantasy points.
