DETROIT -- Junior guard Ray McCallum couldn't be stopped Saturday as Detroit crushed visiting Illinois-Chicago 98-47 in a Horizon League game at Calihan Hall. McCallum scored 25 points on 10-of-12 shooting with seven rebounds, five assists and two steals, helping the Titans (12-7, 4-2 Horizon) snap a two-game losing streak. McCallum was one of four Detroit starters who scored in double figures. Senior guard Jason Calliste scored 20 points, senior forward Nick Minnerath had 14 and senior forward Doug Anderson added 10 for the Titans. Senior guard Gary Talton scored 11 points to lead the Flames (11-8, 2-4), who have lost seven of nine since going 9-1 to start the season. Detroit raced out to a 24-4 lead and never looked back. The Titans led by 40 points in the opening period and took a 53-14 lead into the locker room at the break. They led by as many as 54 points in the second half. Detroit shot 54.8 percent from the field and made 10 of 22 from 3-point range. Illinois-Chicago shot just 32.1 percent and made 4 of 22 from beyond the arc. The Flames also missed 9 of 18 from the free throw line and committed 19 turnovers.
