DeMar DeRozan scores 27, Raptors beat Jazz

Jonas Valanciunas registered his second double-double this season, scoring 17 points and registering 14 rebounds, to help the Toronto Raptors beat the Utah Jazz, 111-93. The Raptors played an efficient game offensively, shooting 43-84 (51.2%) from the field and turning it over just eight times. Toronto (8-2) has now won eight of their last 10 games.

Valanciunas shot 7-12 from the field and 3-6 from the free throw line. Patrick Patterson chipped in 16 points and five rebounds for Toronto as well. Despite the loss, Derrick Favors put up 18 points for Utah on 9-11 shooting. Alec Burks added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

As expected, the high-octane offense of Toronto (ranked third in the NBA in offensive efficiency) picked apart the bottom-tier defense of Utah (ranked 29th in defensive efficiency), putting up 1.23 points per possession. The Raptors paired an eFG% of 56.0% with a TO% of just 8.9%. On the year, when exceeding 55% in eFG% and losing the ball on fewer than 10% of their possessions, they are 1-0. The Jazz, conversely, are winless (0-2) when their opponents hit those numbers.

Coming up next, the Raptors square off against the Memphis Grizzlies, who are 9-1 on the year. The Jazz meet the Oklahoma City Thunder, currently 3-8 this season.
