BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) Jason Dawson scored a career-high 19 points as Gardner-Webb defeated Campbell 78-72 Thursday night, snapping the Camels' four-game winning streak.
The Runnin' Bulldogs (10-12, 5-5 Big South Conference), who had lost three in a row, ran off 10 consecutive points to take a 50-47 lead with 10:17 remaining.
Campbell (14-9, 8-3) rallied to tie the game three times, the last at 66-66 after a steal and layup by Darren White, but it never regained the lead.
Newsome finished with 15 points, Max Landis 13 and Johnson had 12 points and nine rebounds for Gardner-Webb.
White led Campbell with 22 points, and Eric Griffin had 16 points and nine rebounds in 22 minutes before fouling out with 1:25 to play.
