Dave Herman Passes UFC 162 Pre-Fight Drug Test, Cleared to Face Gabriel Gonzaga

UFC heavyweight Dave Herman has passed a required pre-fight drug test, gaining approval to fight Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 162 on Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The fight is part of the UFC 162 preliminary bouts scheduled to air on the FX network.

Herman was required to go before the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Friday to plead his case to gain approval for a license to fight at Saturday’s event. He has twice failed drug tests for marijuana in the past, and the commission had concerns about his participation at UFC 162.

After assuring the commission that he could pass a drug test on the spot, the NSAC said it would issue Herman a one-fight license to compete at UFC 162, but the license would be contingent upon him passing an immediate drug test.

NSAC Executive Director Keith Kizer informed MMAWeekly.com on Tuesday that Herman passed the required 10-panel drug screen, which included testing for marijuana.
