Darren Collison: Signs With Clippers

Update: Collison and the Clippers reached an agreement on a two-year contract Saturday, ESPN's Marc Stein reports.

Recommendation: Numbers are not available at the moment, but it is known that the second year is a player-option. Collison will backup Chris Paul and likely see some playing time alongside CP3 in smaller lineups. The Clippers suddenly have a very deep roster that includes arguably the best point guard duo in the NBA. Barring an injury to Paul, Collison won't see the kind of playing time he did last season, when the Mavericks put him on the floor for an average of 29 minutes per game. A corresponding decrease in his counting statistics should be expected, though a rise in efficiency will also be in play now that he's on a much better team. Collison posted averages of 12.0 points, 5.1 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.2 steals with the Mavs last season.
