Damian Lillard scored 36 points and recorded 10 assists, while LaMarcus Aldridge added 26 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to a close victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, 119-116. The Trail Blazers shot 41-92 (44.6%) from the field and controlled the offensive glass with 18 rebounds. Portland (22-4) is now on a five-game winning streak.
Lillard went 11-23 (8-12 from three-point range) in a good performance. Nicolas Batum also chipped in for Portland, finishing with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Dion Waiters had a strong game off the bench for Cleveland in the loss, scoring 25 points on 11-19 shooting. Kyrie Irving contributed 25 points and 10 assists, Tristan Thompson finished with 15 points and 7 rebounds, and Andrew Bynum put up 13 points and 9 rebounds.
Cleveland (9-15) has now lost back-to-back games after falling to Miami on Saturday.
Coming up, the Trail Blazers take on the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are 12-13 on the season. The Cavaliers meet the Milwaukee Bucks, currently sitting at 5-19 this year. The Cavaliers have a 0-1 record against Milwaukee this season.
