Argentine midfielder Damian Escudero won’t be coming to Pumas this year, despite interest by the Universitarios.
Coach Antonio Torres was hoping to add the left-footed Argentine to the ranks of a team that has struggled in recent campaigns, after winning the Clausura 2011.
“Pumas is out,” Escudero’s agent told Medio Tiempo, after the player decided to stay in Brazil with Club Vitoria.
“Aside from having a better economic offer, it’s a football he’s familiar with. He has a name there.”
Escudero came up through Velez Sarsfield before moving to Boca Juniors, the club that still owns his rights, but has loaned him out the last two seasons.
