Technically, nothing changed. Chivas USA remained bottom of the West and D.C. United is still fourth in the East. But D.C.'s 1-0 win over the Goats on Sunday solidified United's position (equal with the New York Red Bulls on points) and all but killed Chivas' postseason ambitions (10 points off a playoff position).
It also marked the first MLS goal for Branko Boskovic. The D.C. Designated Player has been frustrated with a lack of playing time, frequently making way early in this matches. For this game, he entered as a substitute, but made his minutes count.
Boskovic had been on the field less than 10 minutes when he scored. Lionard Pajoy twisted free along the right and coaxed a ball into the box, where Boskovic's diving header nodded the ball inside the far post for the only goal of the game.
