Cubs option RHP Wells, recall RHP Dolis
The Cubs recalled right-handed pitcher Rafael Dolis from Triple-A Iowa and designated struggling right-handed starter Randy Wells for assignment.
Dolis was available for Wednesday's game against the New York Mets at Wrigley Field.
Dolis went 2-4 with four saves and a 5.68 ERA (16 earned runs in 25 1/3 innings) in 23 relief appearances for the Cubs during his first big league stint this season. He was on the team's Opening Day roster and had a 2.79 ERA in his first 16 outings through May 9. After posting an ERA of 15.00 in his next seven outings, he was optioned to Iowa on May 28. Dolis has limited left-handed batters to a .075 batting average (3-for-40).
Wells is 1-2 with a 5.34 ERA in 12 major league outings (four starts) this season. He had a 7.71 ERA at Iowa.
