Two games in the bigs, two Superhero awards for Jorge Soler.

So at this rate, he should pass Anthony Rizzo at the top of the plus/minus chart in eight more games.  Fun with extrapolation!

Writer's Note: The daily selections of the three Heroes and three Goats are based solely on the top three and bottom three WPA scores for the game. The selections are not based on my subjective opinion.

THE THREE HEROES:

  • Superhero - Jorge Soler (.056). Maybe the Cubs just need to put the number 68 on everyone's jersey and see what happens.
  • Hero - Chris Coghlan (.014). He got hosed on the call on the first strikeout. The second one, though, not so much.
  • Sidekick (tie) - Zac Rosscup and Kyuji Fujikawa (.000). Ah, the dreaded zero-WPA podium tie.

THE THREE GOATS:

  • Billy Goat - Jake Arrieta (-.300). It felt like death by a thousand singles and stolen bases.
  • Goat - Chris Valaika (-.068). Missed a couple of opportunities with runners on while the game was still interesting.
  • Kid - Luis Valbuena (-.050). But he had the single in the ninth that counted for -- (searching) -- positive .003. So there's that.

UPDATED RANKINGS THROUGH GAME 133 (Changes in Bold, Notations Below):

x - Player not on 25-man roster.
y - Player not on 40-man roster.
z - Player no longer with Cubs.

Soler decides to make himself at home at the top of the Hero podium, and nobody seems to mind.
