Cruz likes direction of contract talks with Giants
Contract talks between Victor Cruz and the New York Giants are progressing and the wide receiver indicated that a deal could be completed soon.
Cruz, a restricted free agent after this season, is seeking a long-term contract. His current salary is $540,000.
"From what I hear, they've just agreed on the structure right now," Cruz said on WFAN-AM in New York. "And that's all I'm at liberty to say.
"Hopefully, this leads to the right track and we'll get it done sooner than later. I'm happy so far, so I can just relax and play some football."
Cruz, a third-year pro, leads the Giants in receiving this year with 52 receptions and seven touchdowns. In 2011, Cruz caught 82 passes and scored nine touchdowns.
