Cruz Azul beat Atlante 4-2 on penalties in the Copa MX final.
Atlante missed the first and last of its penalties. Mexican international goalkeeper Jesus Corona made a save on the first, Francesco 'Kikin' Fonseca's attempt. With Cruz Azul scoring all four of its shots, Luis Venegas sent his penalty wide of the post.
The match finished scoreless after regular time. It started slowly, but by the final minutes became an end-to-end affair, with both goalkeepers called into action.
Atlante sits bottom of the Liga MX table. Cruz Azul, which is 11th, had lost four consecutive league finals in a row.
Cruz Azul last won a trophy 15 years ago, in 1997, when it won the Invierno championship and the then Copa Mexico.
