The Crossroads Classic will continue through the 2016 season, the involved schools have announced.
The Classic is a four-team college basketball event involving Indiana's largest schools. The games are played at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, home of the NBA's Indiana Pacers.
The event was already set for 2013 and 2014. The additional dates and matchups are Dec. 19, 2015 (Purdue vs. Butler and Notre Dame vs. Indiana) and Dec. 17, 2016 (Purdue vs. Notre Dame and Butler vs. Indiana). Purdue will serve as the host school in 2015, with Indiana doing so in 2016.
"I think I speak for my three colleagues when I say that while we envisioned the Crossroads Classic being a success, its popularity the first two years has exceeded our expectations," Purdue athletic director Morgan Burke said in a statement. "As a result, it was an easy decision to once again extend the agreement. We have a great partnership with Bankers Life Fieldhouse and our television partners and hope this budding holiday tradition continues to grow."
This year's event will be held Dec. 14. Butler will play Purdue and Indiana will face Notre Dame.
The 2014 Classic will be played Dec. 20 and feature Purdue vs. Notre Dame and Butler vs. Indiana. Notre Dame will serve as the host school.
Last season, Butler defeated Indiana when the Hoosiers were ranked No. 1 in the nation.
"I think this has become a signature event for the schools, the City of Indianapolis and the State of Indiana," Indiana athletic director Fred Glass said in a statement. "We have enjoyed an outstanding relationship with Purdue, Butler and Notre Dame along with Bankers Life Fieldhouse and the Indiana Pacers organization. We could not be more pleased."
