A's Crisp leaves game with shin injury

The SportsXchange

Oakland A's outfielder Coco Crisp has been hitting home runs with alarming regularity recently, but he had to leave Monday's game against the Texas Rangers because of a bruised shin, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Before he left, Crisp hit his 17th home run of the season, a career high, in the A's 4-2 victory.

It was the third straight game in which Crisp has homered, and he has gone deep seven times in the last 11 games.

But it's unclear whether he will be available for the remaining games of the series against the Rangers, who are now tied with Oakland for the AL West lead.

The injury occurred when Crisp fouled a ball off his leg during an at-bat in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Crisp, 33, finished the at-bat by striking out, but did not return to the field at the end of the inning.

He will be re-evaluated Tuesday.
