Dan Wetzel:

Cowboys Stadium likely site of BCS title game

The SportsXchange

Cowboys Stadium will likely be the site of the first championship game of college football's new four-team playoff format, sources told ESPN.com.

Only the North Texas and Tampa Bay, Fla., communities submitted bids by Wednesday's deadline. The championship game is scheduled for Jan. 12, 2015. The BCS commissioners will meet April 23-25 in Pasadena, Calif., to officially announce the venue, as well as provide other details.

In January, sources told ESPN that Cowboys Stadium was the "prohibitive favorite" to host the game, and several communities chose not to bid in the face of those odds, sources told the web site.
