Cowboys: Austin's hamstring injury not serious

The Dallas Cowboys do not believe that wide receiver Miles Austin's latest hamstring injury is serious, ESPN.com reported Monday.

Austin was injured during the Cowboys' 31-7 rout of the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. He strained his left hamstring in the third quarter while running a deep rout.

He left the game but could have returned if it were a closer contest, coach Jason Garrett said. Dallas was up 24-0 at the time.

The team will wait until Wednesday to determine if he can practice.

Austin has been slowed by hamstring injuries for the past two seasons. He missed six games in 2011. He played in all 16 games last year but was limited at times.

During the summer, Austin made adjustments to his running style and participated in different stretching programs to avoid re-injury. The team has also been cautious with him during workouts.

If Austin is unable to go this Sunday against the San Diego Chargers, rookie Terrance Williams will replace him in the starting lineup and Dwayne Harris will be elevated to the No. 3 position.
