Defenseman Joe Corvo will return to the Carolina Hurricanes for the third time, signing a one-year deal with the club Sunday.
The Hurricanes also re-signed goaltender Justin Peters for two years and forward Brett Sutter to a one-year contract.
Corvo, 35, played in 75 games for the Boston Bruins this past season and had four goals and 21 assists and was plus-10.
During his nine-year career, Corvo has played 220 games for Carolina iand scored 36 goals and posted 75 assists.
"He made it real clear this is where he wanted to be," team president and general manager Jim Rutherford told NHL.com. "We feel he still has some good hockey in him."
Peters' contract is a two-way deal the first season and one way the second season. Peters might get a shot at the backup goaltender job this season with Carolina, which will be missing Brian Boucher for four to six months because of a shoulder injury.
"The door is open right off the start for him with Boucher being injured," Rutherford said. "He can make a case for himself that Boucher doesn't get back in when he gets healthy."
Sutter played in 15 games for the Hurricanes last season and had three assists.
