Gorgui Dieng put up his fifth double-double this season, scoring 15 points and registering 15 rebounds, to help the Minnesota Timberwolves easily get past the Atlanta Hawks, 107-83. The Timberwolves had an impressive game shooting the ball in this game, finishing 43-86 (50.0%). This snaps a three-game losing streak for Minnesota (35-35).
Dieng went 6-8, in a good performance. Minnesota also got solid performances from Kevin Love with 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Chase Budinger with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Despite the loss, Mike Scott put up 15 points for Atlanta on 6-11 shooting, including 2-3 from behind the arc. He also registered 7 rebounds. Paul Millsap chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds, DeMarre Carroll finished with 11 points and 6 rebounds, and Lou Williams put up 10 points and 6 assists.
The Timberwolves combined an eFG% of 55.2% with 40.9% 3-point shooting. They are undefeated (6-0) this year when registering marks above 55% and 40% in those respective statistics. The Hawks, on the other hand, are 1-13 when allowing opponents to hit those marks.
Atlanta (31-39) has now lost four consecutive games.
Coming up, the Timberwolves battle the Los Angeles Lakers, who are 24-46 on the season. The Hawks meet the Portland Trail Blazers, currently sitting at 45-27 this year. The Timberwolves have won two of their last three meetings with Los Angeles. The Hawks are 0-1 versus Portland this season.
