Coppin State 79, South Carolina State 58

Junior forward Michael Murray had 19 points and eight rebounds, helping Coppin State snap a five-game losing streak Monday with a 79-58 victory over South Carolina State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game at the Physical Education Complex in Baltimore.

Junior guard Andre Armstrong added 17 points for the Eagles (4-14, 1-2 MEAC).

Junior forward Matthew Hezekiah scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Bulldogs (4-12, 0-3).

Coppin State and South Carolina State traded leads over the first few minutes. The Eagles were clinging to a one-point advantage with 12:07 to play in the first half, but they stretched the lead to 45-31 at the break.

South Carolina State narrowed the gap midway through the second half, cutting Coppin State's lead to 51-45 with 13:24 to play, but the Eagles regained control. They went up 61-47 with 8:32 to go and continued to extend their lead over the rest of the second half.

Coppin State shot 45 percent from the field while holding South Carolina State to 40 percent shooting. The Eagles made nine of 22 3-point goals, while the Bulldogs made just three of 21.
