Michael Murray, Andre Armstrong and Collin Johnson combined for 45 points to lead Coppin State to a 69-61 win over Bethune-Cookman on Thursday night in Baltimore in the Eagles' regular-season finale. Coppin State (8-23, 5-11) heads into the MEAC tournament having won two straight and three of four. Murray led Coppin with 16 points and also grabbed 14 rebounds. Armstrong added 15 points in just 21 minutes, and Johnson made 6 of 8 shots from the field while scoring 14 points. The Eagles won despite committing 18 turnovers. Adrien Coleman, the MEAC's top scorer, had 15 points but needed 12 shots from the field to reach that total. Kevin Dukes paced the Wildcats (12-19, 7-9) with 18 points. Javoris Bryant added 12 points and 11 rebounds. Bethune-Cookman got off to a 7-2 start, but Coppin State responded with a 9-0 run and never trailed again. The Wildcats narrowed the gap to 23-22 late in the first half, but Johnson reeled off five straight points and the Eagles took a 32-25 lead into the locker room. Bethune-Cookman was threatening to rally when it pulled within 45-37 in the second half, but Coppin once again answered, embarking on a 9-3 run to take a 54-40 lead with 11 minutes remaining.
