Despite suffering a crisis in defense with Leonardo Bonucci, Angelo Ogbonna, Stephan Liechsteiner and Andrea Barzagli all missing, Juve recorded a clean sheet against 15th-placed Livorno, with midfielder Vidal drafted into the back four alongside Martin Caceres.
Though Conte admitted he was unhappy with a late lapse in concentration from Vidal, he suggested the Chilean could be a useful solution to the Bianconeri's current defensive problems while freeing up space in midfield.
"He made me angry at the end with a slightly complacent move, but overall he did brilliantly. It might even be his best role. That'll solve my problem of having so many great midfielders, I'll just play Vidal at the back!" Conte joked to reporters after the match.
Two second-half goals from summer additions Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez wrapped up the points for the Old Lady and Conte was pleased his side was able to continue its strong domestic form so soon after the international break.
"The lads are doing something great, even if we are only in week 13," he said. "I liked the performance today as in this type of game after Real Madrid, Napoli and international duty a tiny bit of arrogance or complacency can sneak in, but they resisted that."
Juve will be hoping to replicate its domestic form in the Champions League on Wednesday when it faces FC Copenhagen in a crucial clash at Juventus Stadium.
"It is in our hands and that is the most important thing. If we do well, then we'll go forward, but if we don’t then it means we’ll have to improve," Conte said.
"The team wants to continue this Champions League experience and we'll do anything to achieve that."
