The AFC and NFC Championship games Sunday ranked as television's most-watched programs since Super Bowl XLVI, according to The Nielsen Company's Fast National ratings.
The Baltimore Ravens-New England Patriots AFC Championship Game on CBS drew 47.7 million viewers while the NFC title game between the San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Falcons on Fox drew 42.0 million viewers.
It is the fourth straight year the two championship games each drew at least 41 million viewers.
Five playoff games this season averaged at least 35 million viewers, tying a record set a year ago.
Nine NFL games have made up the only TV programs to reach 30 million viewers since the Summer Olympics. They include four divisional playoff games, two conference championship games, two wild card playoff games, and the final Sunday night game of the regular season.
