Complete List of Florida Football Gators in the NFL

Yahoo Contributor Network

The SEC has won six BCS national championships in a row -- and two of those titles belong to the Florida Gators.

Under the leadership of Urban Meyer, the Gators collected a ton of talent during his brief time as head coach, and many of those players went on to the NFL. More important, the Meyer-led Gators are leaving their imprint on the NFL a lot more than the Gators of previous eras.

Top Three Gators in the NFL:

1. Percy Harvin, WR, Minnesota Vikings: A few years ago, Percy Harvin struggled to stay on the field due to migraine headaches. But, in 2011, the former Gator was finally on the field for all 16 games. Harvin had a disappointing first half last year but now that Minnesota has figured out its quarterback situation, Harvin figures to be one of the leaders in touches due to his triple-threat ability to catch, run the ball, and return kicks. I wouldn't be surprised if Harvin led the NFL in all-purpose yards a couple of times before his career is over.

2. Aaron Hernandez, TE, New England Patriots: Aaron Hernandez often gets overlooked due to playing opposite Rob Gronkowski, but many defenders have said Hernandez is even more difficult to guard. Hernandez's only problem in the NFL has been staying healthy, but when Hernandez and Gronkowski are both on the field at the same time, Tom Brady actually targets the former Gator just as often as Gronkowski.

3. Tim Tebow, QB, New York Jets: I know a lot of people will groan because that's what people do when you mention the name Tim Tebow. I'm not claiming Tebow is a great quarterback or one of the best players in the league, but he did rush for 660 yards last season, which helped the Denver Broncos lead the NFL in rushing. Tebow's total yards put him in that 20th-to 25th range of quarterbacks with the likes of Alex Smith, Carson Palmer, Matt Schaub, Jay Cutler, Sam Bradford, and Christian Ponder. Those aren't future Hall of Fame names, but Tebow can still be a quality player if his team figures out how to accentuate his running ability.
