Whoa! That’s the only word that really comes to mind when I thing about the Miami Dolphins most recent game. Down 10-0 entering the fourth quarter, the Dolphins staged a shocking come from behind victory despite some major problems on offense. The 14-10 win also extends the team’s win streak to five games.

Throughout much of the first three quarters of the game, doubts began to creep into everyones mind about the state of play in Miami. The Dolphins offense was atrocious. Penalties, drops, and just some poor production. All it resulted in 10 of the first 11 drives ending in punts. That one drive… it ended after one play courtesy of an interception.

Entering the fourth quarter, myself and I’m sure many had already cursed the team and relegated ourselves to another season without playoff football. The offense was not playing well at all and despite the defense’s best efforts, it was not going to be enough. Then, a change could felt in the winds. Things all of a sudden seemed different.

Earning a 15-yard roughing the quarterback penalty on their penultimate drive of the game, Miami began to move their way down the field. All of a sudden, Ryan Tannehill was making passes and the receivers were getting open. Jay Ajayi was making moderate gains on the ground. Now down three with just over four minutes remaining in the game.

Another solid defensive stand gave Miami the ball back with just over two minutes remaining in the game. Again, Tannehill completed his passes. The receivers got open. The team parted the red sea! Okay, maybe that last part was a fib, but boy were we moving the football. Finding DeVante Parker in the endzone, the Dolphins took their first and only lead of the game with less than a minute left in the game.

Stopping Jared Goff and the Rams offense on their very next drive, the Miami Dolphins sealed the come from behind win to both extend their win streak and keep their playoff dreams alive. However, that said, things will need improving this week. It’s good to win games, but we will need some real improvement this week on offense to prove that we are a playoff caliber team.
