Federico Higuain created two goals in the late going to lead the Columbus Crew to a 2-1 comeback win over the Montreal Impact on Saturday night.
The Impact opened the scoring as late as the 73rd minute. Sanna Nyassi sidestepped bodychecks from two Crew defenders on his explosive run down the left flank, pulling the ball back to Felipe Martins. The Brazilian performed a pirouette at the top of the box and slipped the ball through to Marco Di Vaio, who delicately chipped the 'keeper.
Federico Higuain again proved that his set pieces are among the most effective weapons in MLS. Chad Marshall hung in the air to direct the free kick into the back of the net.
Not to be pigeonholed as a one-trick pony, Higuain assisted the winner from the run of play three minutes into stoppage time. He cut back onto his right foot and bowed a cross into the box. The slightest of flicks off Emilio Renteria's bald, sweaty scalp sent the ball spinning over Troy Perkins' reach.
