    Columbus' Atkinson placed on injured reserve

    The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed promising young forward Cam Atkinson on the injured reserve list because of a groin injury, the Columbus Dispatch reported.

    He can be reactivated as early as Jan. 30.

    Atkinson, 23, has scored one goal in the three games he's played this season.

    He provided optimism when he scored five goals in Columbus' two final games last season.
