What's buzzing:

Colts RB Bradshaw out with neck injury, Richardson to start

The SportsXchange

The Indianapolis Colts announced Friday that running back Ahmad Bradshaw is out for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars because of neck discomfort.

Coach Chuck Pagano said he could not pinpoint when or how Bradshaw was injured but that it was a "significant blow." It is not clear how long Bradshaw will be out.

"He won't play this week," Pagano said.

"(He) hasn't practiced for the last three days. Ahmad came in after the ballgame last Sunday, had some discomfort in his neck and our doctors and trainers are working feverishly to get that thing calmed down," Pagano said. "When I have a more definitive answer for you on what's going on, I'll let you know."

The Colts might not know what's going on, but they know exactly who is going in.

Trent Richardson, whom the Colts recently acquired from the Cleveland Browns for a first-round draft pick, is expected to carry the load on Sunday.

In his Colts debut last Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, Richardson rushed for 35 yards on 13 carries. Bradshaw had 19 rushes for 95 yards. Both scored a touchdown.

Richardson said he's focused on getting more comfortable with the offense but can't do it alone.

"It's still going to be a lot of help from Andrew (Luck) and Donald (Brown) is going to help me out a lot," he said. "We've all been on the same page. I've been learning the game plan every day and sticking my face in that playbook two hours after practice, an hour before practice, at the meetings and stuff. I've been studying hard so I feel like that workload, I'm ready to go for it. Whenever it's time they call on my name, I'm going to be ready to go."

Richardson still feels like the whirlwind arrival that began Sept. 19 is keeping him from getting both feet on the ground. He travels to and from a downtown hotel to practice, then returns to his room for more studying. He's had no time to look for housing, or take in any of the charm of downtown Indianapolis.

"Other than (his hotel), I've been to Hooters and got some chicken and shrimp. That's it. Other than that, I ain't been nowhere," Richarson said.
