Colts hire Rob Chudzinski as special assistant

The Indianapolis Colts have hired former Cleveland Browns coach Rob Chudzinski as special assistant to head coach Chuck Pagano.

Chudzinski has worked with Pagano previously at the University of Miami and with the Browns for a total of eight seasons in college and the NFL. Pagano was a graduate assistant at Miami when Chudzinski was a freshman. They coached together for five seasons at Miami, and spent one season on the Browns' staff.

“Rob and I have a long professional relationship and his résumé speaks for itself,” Pagano said. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and will be a tremendous help to our entire team moving forward. Needless to say, we're excited to have ‘Chud’ joining our family.”

Chudzinski was fired after last season where the Browns sent wide receiver Josh Gordon to the Pro Bowl as he led the nFL with 1,646 receiving yards.

Tight end Jordan Cameron posted career highs with 80 receptions for 917 yards and seven touchdowns.

Prior to joining the Browns, Chudzinski spent two years as offensive coordinator of the Carolina Panthers where he coached Cam Newton.

With the San Diego Chargers, he coached Antonio Gates to a pair of 1,000-yard receiving seasons.

He was an offensive coordinator with the Browns previously and at the University of Miami where he also played tight end.
