On the same day the Colts lost offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, Indianapolis hired a new special teams coordinator.
Tom McMahon will take over the Colts' special teams after leading the Kansas City Chiefs' special teams last season.
"We're excited that Tom will be joining our staff," Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said in a statement. "He brings a strong coaching background and his players have routinely ranked among the league's best in all facets of special teams. We look forward to working with him as we strive to have one of the top special teams units in the NFL."
McMahon spent 2009-11 as the St. Louis Rams' special teams coordinator. He was a special teams assistant for the Atlanta Falcons in 2007-08.
Marwan Maalouf's one-year stint as the Colts' special teams coordinator ended following last season in what the team announced was a mutual parting.
