The Colorado Rapids and FC Dallas had four goals split evenly in a 2-2 draw on Saturday night.
The Rapids controlled most of the possession in the first half, but goalkeepers Clint Irwin and Raul Fernandez did not get much camera time. The first half saw more fouls than shots attempted, causing both sides to head to the halftime locker room with the game still scoreless.
But 10 minutes of goals started in the 56th. Off of a Marvell Wynne throw, Atiba Harris opened the goal floodgates when he headed the ball past Fernandez to give the Rapids a 1-0 lead.
It didn’t take long for FC Dallas to tie it up. In the 61st minute, Blas Perez scored unassisted just inside the box as he shot a rocket through the Rapids back line.
Colorado took back the lead within minutes when Harris scored his second goal of the match, connecting with a looping header that floated in behind the defense.
FC Dallas answered quickly and once again tied it up. In the 66th minute, Perez settled a long ball from Jackson Goncalves and slammed home what would prove to be the final goal of the night from outside the box.
