Edson Buddle returned from injury and scored the game’s only goal, giving the Colorado Rapids a 1-0 over Toronto FC.
A first half with several half chances left the teams scoreless at the break.
As the second half began, Toronto’s Luis Silva was the player to watch. In the 61st minute, Silva forced a nice save out of rookie goalkeeper Clinton Irwin. The Reds quickly recovered and had another go, but Irwin punched in out of the danger zone. The 24-year old almost scored again in the 70th minute, but the ball was once again redirected by Irwin.
The match looked to be headed for a draw until substitute Buddle, back from injury and on as a sub, connected with a pass from Chris Klute and scored the winning goal.
The win is Colorado's second on home soil this season.
