Colgate 70, Navy 56

Murphy Burnatowski had a game-high 29 points to lead Colgate to a 70-56 win over Navy Saturday night in Annapolis, Md.

Worth Smith's 13 points and eight rebounds, along with Brandon Venturini'a 11 points, led the Midshipmen (7-14, 1-4 Patriot League), who shot just 32 percent from the field (17 of 54) while making just 5 of 23 3-pointers.

Burnatowski, coming off a 35-point night in a win over Army, was 11 of 17 from the field, making three 3-pointers, as the Raiders (8-13, 2-3) shot 50 percent (26 of 52), including 7 of 19 from behind the arc.

No other Colgate player reached double figures in scoring. Mitch Rolls and Pat Moore each had nine points, and Matt McMullen had seven points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

The Midshipmen, who had cut the lead to nine at 43-34, went 9:08 without making a field goal in the second half as the Raiders extended their advantage to 67-45 with 3:33 remaining.

The Raiders led the Midshipmen 32-16 with 6:01 left in the half. At that point, Burnatowski had more points (17) than the entire Navy team.

Burnatowski finished the first half with 19 points as Colgate, which opened the game with a 14-2 run, led 37-25 at the break.
