Clippers lose Barnes for two weeks

Los Angeles Clippers forward Matt Barnes will miss at least two weeks after surgery to repair a retinal tear in his left eye, the team announced Thursday night.

Barnes suffered the injury on Monday night during a game against the Memphis Grizzlies. He sat out Wednesday night's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves and did not play Thursday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The 6-foot-7 Barnes is averaging 5.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting 34 percent from the field and 25 percent from 3-point range in eight games this season.

Last week, Barnes was fined $25,000 by the NBA for failing to leave the court in a timely manner after an ejection and also for using inappropriate language on Twitter.

Barnes, 33, was coming off one of the best seasons of his career in 2012-13 when he averaged 10.3 points for the Clippers.
