Fantasy Football 2014:

Clippers' Paul out up to six weeks

The SportsXchange

Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul will be sidelined for up to six weeks after being diagnosed with a separated right shoulder, the team announced Sunday.

An MRI performed Sunday determined that Paul will not need surgery to repair the problem, however.

Paul suffered the injury in the third quarter of the Clippers' win over the Dallas Mavericks on Friday when he hit the floor after being fouled by Mavericks' guard Monta Ellis.

Paul is averaging 19.6 points and an NBA-high 11.2 assists per game.

The Clippers also waived point guard Maalik Wayns on Sunday, which opens up a roster spot if the Clippers want to add a point guard.

"There are a few guys who could get out of their contracts in China," Clippers coach Doc Rivers said, according to ESPNLosAngeles.com. "So you're looking at all that stuff."

Darren Collison, who started 47 games for the Mavericks last season, will be the Clippers' starting point guard while Paul is out of action.

Collison is averaging 8.6 points and 2.2 assists this season.

The Clippers have a 23-13 record, which was the fourth-best record in the Western Conference heading to Sunday's action.
