Cleveland Indians at Texas Rangers, September 11, 2012: Fan Preview

Yahoo Contributor Network

The only upside for the Cleveland Indians in their upcoming series against the Texas Rangers is that the Rangers are feeling downtrodden after what they consider a disappointing road trip. They finished with a 6-4 record. A 6-4 record on a road trip would be a reason to celebrate for Cleveland, but that is only one of the many differences between these two franchises.

There is so much more at stake for the Rangers in this series as they hold just a three-game lead over the Oakland Athletics in the AL West. As for Cleveland, I believe they are just anxious to get the season over so they can evaluate and determine how to fix the mess the team became in the second half of the season.

On Tuesday, the Tribe will send Ubaldo Jimenez to the mound in an effort to steal away a victory. He is 1-1 with a 2.84 ERA in two starts against Texas on the year.

The matchup:

The Cleveland Indians will take on the Texas Rangers at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington located in Arlington, Texas on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 8:05 p.m. EDT.

Ubaldo Jimenez (9-15, 5.58 ERA) will take the mound for the Indians facing off against the Rangers' Matt Harrison (15-9, 3.37 ERA).

The standings:

Cleveland enters the game with a 59-82 record and in fourth place in the American League Central. They are 27-45 when playing on the road and have won four of their last 10 games.

Texas comes into the matchup with an 83-57 record and in first place in the American League West. They are 43-25 when playing at home and have won six of their last 10 games.
